Brazil, Dr. Barraga, while attending the WCWB General Assembly in Sao Paulo, gave a short course in visual efficiency to teachers, psychologists and others. First Oceania Regional Conference, Brisbane, Australia. 1975 First European Regional Conference, Ljubljana, Yugoslavia. Malaysia, Second Asian Regional Conference. Second course for teachers of visually handicapped children, Al-Noor Institute for the Blind, Meharrack, Bahrain. Indonesia - Australian experts visit the Helen Keller International project for training teachers of the blind. Emphasis on counseling parents of pre-school blind children and on teacher training programs for teachers of integrated students. 1976 Australia, experts visit HKI project for training teachers. Saudi Arabia, five-week course for teachers of the blind, Riyadh. 1977 Sixth International Conference, Paris. 1979 First Latin American Course on Integrated Education for Children with Visual Handicaps, Maraciabo, Venezuela. Ghana, German expert on teacher training funded by ICEVI to train teachers of the blind, Akropong-Akwapiam. Ghana, ICEVI with CBM expert, evaluation of the school programme of the Lulwe Mission School for the Blind. Sudan, visit by Danish expert. India, American expert visits south India for an evaluation of the educational situation of the blind. India, A Marburg Braille Duplicator donated to the Red Cross School for the Blind in Berhampur, Orissa to provide textbooks in the Oriya language for integrated education. Malaysia, arranged for the transport to England for two staff from St. Nicholas School for the Blind for overseas training sponsored by the RCSB. Philippines, Liasing between several donor agencies to secure funds and experts for aid programs in the Philippines. Malawi, Evaluation of the Lulwe Mission School. Turkey, Efforts made to secure funds for a school for the blind’s integrated education scheme. Portugal, Collaboration of CBM arranged for 300 Braille kits to be donated. Guatemala, First Regional Meeting of the Latin America Committee of ICEVI in Guatemala City. Course on Subnormal Vision and Visual Efficiency, Bogota. 1979/80/81 Ethiopia, Teacher Training Project - Series of Teaching Seminars & teacher training courses. 1980 Guatemala, Mobility course to train instructors for Latin American countries. Ethiopia, Conducted training course for teachers of the blind in collaboration with CBM. Kenya, Involvement in locating a suitable expert to assist with establishment of a permanent teacher training course in Kenya. India, Visit by ICEVI expert for evaluation of educational situation. 1981 Nigeria, Danish expert sent to Nakam Memorial Secondary School, Barakin Ladi, that had an integrated program. Kenya, Teacher training course developed at Highridge College, Nairobi. Greece, Evaluation of the education of the blind at the school for the blind, Kallithea, Athens. Bahrain, Math teacher sent to from Britain to help in developing more creative math teaching techniques. Jamaica, American expert sent to the Salvation Army School for the Blind, Kingston to give in-service workshop and technical assistance. Third Asian Conference, Jakarta, Indonesia.
1982 Fourth Decade. 1982 Argentina, Materials sent, including arithmetic boxes to the school for the blind in Bahia Blanca. Kenya, Seventh International Conference in Nairobi. Costa Rica, Susana Crespo, ICEVI regional chairman for Latin America, works with staff at school for the blind and the University of Costa Rica regarding proposed training course for teachers of the blind. Also gave instruction to teachers of Santa Lucia School in Guatemala City. 1984 First Latin American Seminar for Educators of the Visually Handicapped of the I.C.E.V.H., Cordoba, Argentina. Latin American Region developed together with CBM teacher training courses for school principals & teachers. 1985 Courses given in Bolivia, Mexico & Columbia. 1986 ICEVH Oceania Region arranges and sponsors an educational advisory visit to Fiji. Also in this decade Oceania regional officers and members support the Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Samoa in their efforts to provide academic and culturally relevant educational programs. 1987 Latin America. Visits by Regional chairperson, Susana Crespo, for evaluation, guidance, and follow-up education programs in Lima and Arequipa, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay and Chile. Santa Lucia School, Guatemala received support and guidance. 1988 Visits by Latin American chair to schools in Bolivia. European chairperson, Elizabeth Chapman visited several countries, Netherlands, Madeira, Bulgaria, Portugal, Yugoslavia and to conduct seminars. International Symposium on Visually Impaired Infants & Young Children: Birth to Seven, Edinburgh, Scotland, Aug.7-13. Spanish ink-print edition of The Educator is produced by FBU. Middle East chairperson & World Blind President Abdullah Al-Ghanim visits Australia and New Zealand. Pacific region reports since 1987 conference the region raised over $10,000 towards improving educational programs for the visually impaired in the region.
