The following study refers to a scarcely researched topic in our country: the blind students’ reality integrated into higher education.

The background of this research is the fact that the integrated education of blind students into regular schools began systematically only in the 1970’s.Today; this process has facilitated the integration of a great number of students into higher education.

This study also looks into the fundamental role of the school for the formation and preparation to face life of every member in the school community. It also stresses the focus on education for democracy that implicitly involves the principle of union in diversity.

The main objectives of this study are:

  1. To contribute with ideas to make curricula adjustments to encourage the integration of the visually impaired into higher education.
  2. To look into the development of the teaching-learning process, the teaching materials, and the methodology.
  3. To get to know if their expectations are met in their university life.
  4. To get to know their problems with respect to the teachers’ way of teaching.
