- Strengthen the pupils self confidence through
artistic activities
- Enrich the pupils’ concept of art through lectures of art history and
through individual creative activities
- Learn about museums and how they function
- Increase the accessibility of the exhibition for
the V.I. (catalogue in Braille and enlarged text, embossed representations of paintings,
authentic artist’s studio, café of the 1930’s, smells, tastes, contemporary sound pictures: the war, music)
- Organize an exhibition including over a hundred
works of art by blind and partially sighted pupils
Multisensory approach of the art
project
- Theoretical: studies of mid-century history and
lifestyle (household objects, fashion, interior design, meals) and
literature, writing essays on the subject, making a video of a trip to an
art exhibition
- Carpentry: making easels, palettes etc. for the
art work
- Art techniques: oil painting, ceramic work,
collages of paper, embossed drawings
- Social skills: Opening of the Anniversary
exhibition, pupils dressed in contemporary style and entertaining invited
guests with piano music, organizing their own exhibition in the Jyväskylä
City Library
