Mission
The International Council for Education
of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI), is a global association of individuals
and organizations that promotes equal access to appropriate education
for all visually impaired children and youth so that they may achieve
their full potential.
History of the Organization
Started in 1952 in the Netherlands,
the ICEVI conducted its Golden Jubilee conference in the Netherlands from
28 July to 2 August 2002.

The current database of ICEVI has nearly
4000 professionals and organizations working for persons with visual impairment
throughout the world.
Networking with other organizations
ICEVI works closely with International
Non-Governmental Development Organizations (NGDOs) and UN bodies such
as UNESCO, UNICEF, and WHO.
Publications
ICEVI, publishes
a biannual magazine "The Educator" which is available in both
audio and Braille forms besides the print version. The Educator is printed
in Spanish language too and sent to nearly 4000 individuals and leading
organizations in more than 150 countries around the world. ICEVIs online
Newsletter íNewslineí is published twice a year and reaches
nearly 4000 persons and organisations.
