Because the Latin American Region is big and the tickets are very costly, ICEVI Latin American Region decided it would be better to organize three small sub-regional conferences than only to organize one big regional conference.

The first of these sub-regional conferences was held in Cacun – México from  August 7th to 10th, 2000. Approximately, 160 teachers, professionals and parents from Mexico, Central America and Caribbean island (Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, Dominican Republic) and Argentina attended.
