You will be happy to know that the Regional Chairperson for Asia, Dr. M.N.G. Mani has been selected for the R.M. Alpaiwalla Award instituted by the National Association for the Blind, Mumbai, India. This premier National Award has been instituted in the memory of the Founder of the NAB and Blind Welfare Services in India after India gained independence. Dr. Mani has been chosen in the professional category for this Award. This Award was conferred on 19th January'02 at Mumbai.
Dr. Mani has had a distinguished career as an eminent educationist of persons with visual impairment and multiple disability. A doctorate in education and in multiple disabilities, Dr. Mani has been responsible for developing syllabii in various rehabilitation areas. He has professionalised the field of visual impairment by standardising courses for various cadres of rehabilitation personnel.
We wish Dr. Mani the Very Best. He richly deserves this Award and many more.
