ICEVI LEADERSHIP AWARD:

The ICEVI Principal Officers in their Meeting felt that it would be appropriate to institute an Award which could be conferred in the forthcoming Quinquennial conference of the ICEVI to be held in 2002. This year also is the 50th anniversary of the ICEVI. Some guidelines have been developed in this regard. , namely,

• A. Criteria:

  This award is provided periodically to outstanding individuals or organizations that have:

• made an outstanding and lasting contribution to education of the blind in their country, region or at an international level.
• have contributed in a significant way to the work of ICEVI in their region
• B. Procedures:
• Regional Committee asked to nominate up to five individuals and/or organizations and submit the nominations to the ICEVI Secretary on or before 15 April, 2002.
• Special Committee appointed by the President will review all nominations and select individuals or organizations who will receive the award at the 11th World Conference.
• Design of the Award:
• Preferably something that symbolizes education of the blind and if possible is designed by a blind and/or other disabled artist and is something that could be replicated with ease for future awards.
